Tropfest

A free, public, outdoor, annual short film festival held in February in locations across Australia. The festival provides the ultimate exhibition opportunity for filmmakers, giving them a chance to screen their films in one of the most unique festival environments in the world. From more than 800 entries, each year 16 Finalists are selected to premiere to an audience of more than 150,000 people via simultaneous satellite screenings in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth, Hobart and eight regional locations around Australia.

Tropfest is holding free info sessions across the country for Australia’s emerging filmmakers during October. The info tour will give filmmakers the opportunity to hear about the entry process, selection criteria and filmmaker activities for Movie Extra Tropfest and Trop Jr 2009.

Tropfest and Movie Extra join forces in major sponsorship, broadcast right and naming rights deal with the event now to be known as Movie Extra Tropfest.

Tropfest, the world’s largest short film festival, today unveiled a new naming rights partnership with subscription TV channel Movie Extra, part of the Movie Network, which will take the festival to even greater audiences, enhancing the support and growth opportunities for Australian filmmaking talent.
